Adult Classes Summer 2009
We're changing the format of our schedule this year to reflect what has become the reality of how our classes work. Over the last four years we've found that although people want to join a class that's right for their skill level, their schedule usually dictates what class they are able to take. It has resulted in most classes being made up of students of all degrees of skill and it's been great. This way of structuring classes allows an open and interactive environment where people can watch and learn from each other.
At the beginning of each class new students are taught the basics for a span of time and then allowed to work on their own as more advanced students are given demonstrations and guidance. Demos can be really instructive for beginners to watch as well, they're inspiring and seeing someone throw is fun! At that point we're all in it together. Everyone gets the additional attention and instruction they need. Our studio focuses primarily on throwing but we are always happy to teach handbuilding as well, talk to us about it when you register.
Classes run for 8 weeks, meet once a week for 2.5 hours and cost $240 per term. All materials are included. Also included in the price of tuition is Open Studio Time, for students who want to get in a little practice outside of class. Additional costs... Basic tool kits are available for $12, you'll need one to get started. We also charge 3 cents per cubic inch to fire pots in the kiln, a mug usually ends up costing about $1.95.
